Parker’s film coming in 2009
Kicking off the Dark Castle panel in Hall H, super-producer Joel Silver introduced the world premiere look at the teaser trailer for Dave Parker’s The Hills Run Red. A direct-to-DVD entry arriving in 2009.
The footage looked gorgeous and there was no shortage of bloodshed. It begins with scratchy film footage of various grotesqueries (a tied up woman, etc.) before transitioning into present day where we’re introduced to the film’s leads – Tad Hilgenbrink, Sophie Monk, et al. They’re wandering in the woods talking about a notorious slasher film – then the mayhem begins. A flurry of images include: A killer with one wicked-looking mask (sorta like a baby faced doll but cracked and dirtied up), a girl rising out of a barrel brimming with blood and co-star William Sadler taunting a victim. “Everybody is expendable for the good of the film,” he says. It ends on a very Texas Chainsaw Massacre-esque shot of the killer, dripping in viscera, slamming a door close on the credits: The Hills Run Red.
In all, it was pretty goddamn tight: Grisly, slick and raw. Producer Erik Olsen promised it was the nastiest Dark Castle production yet. Color us interested.
