Late-’09 release planned
Our last report on The Host 2 was back in December (here), since then Korean production outfit Chungeorahm and China’s Stone Man Films have announced they will co-produce the follow-up. China’s Ning Hao will write and direct. He previously helmed the laugher Crazy Stone.
The original monster movie, a $60.6 million hit overseas, was helmed by Bong Joon-ho. (Magnolia released the film Stateside.)
According to Variety, this new flick will have to tread carefully to avoid criticizing the Chinese government as the story concerns a calamity caused when people ignore a monster due to their desire for money.
Shooting is expected to start early next year for a release at the end of 2009.
