The new fall reality horror series
VH1 is ordering up eight episodes of Scream Queens, a reality TV show hatched over at Lionsgate.
The gist of it is this: Take 10 female wannabe actresses, push ’em through various challenges, have them get schooled by acting coach John Homa and later judged by an unknown Lionsgate director. The winner will score a pivotal place in an upcoming horror film from the studio responsible for the Saw and Hostel series.
“Horror films have dominated the pop culture landscape for decades and along the way have produced some of the biggest names in Hollywood,” VH1 exec Jeff Olde tells THR.
The series will begin airing this fall and will presumably get a huge Halloween season marketing push. Queens will arrive in the wake of the CW’s 13, the reality show by Sam Raimi and Jay Bienstock (details), which is reportedly due sometime this summer.
