The chupacabra lives on
Variety is reporting of another industry mash-up that will focus on comic book to film adaptations and vice versa. The deal echoes Myriad Pictures’ collaboration with Studio 407 (details).
Platinum Studios and Vanguard Animation are partnering to create Vanguard Comics. The company will develop properties that have potential for comics as well as the big screen. First up is the horror-thriller Illegal Aliens, the story of a tabloid reporter knee deep in Texas cattle mutilations the chupacabra monster.
The comic was created by freelance illustrator Kevin MacDougall.
Vanguard Animation is partly owned by Starz Media and produced the upcoming Space Chimps for Fox. Platinum is developing a Witchblade feature film with Top Cow.
