Hollywood Welcomes John Carpenter Tribute

Fest to play at American Cinematheque

Most wouldn’t argue that John Carpenter’s heyday was from ’76 to ’88. Every fan has his/her favorites and least favorites during that period (although this writer thinks In the Mouth of Madness was the director’s last truly good effort) and now some of those films are going to be part of an American Cinematheque tribute to Carpenter running June 13th – 18th at the Aero Theater (1328 Montana Avenue at 14th Street in Santa Monica). Here’s a look at the schedule:

Friday, June 13th @ 7:30pm: Double feature – The Thing, The Fog, with a discussion between films with John Carpenter

Saturday, June 14th @ 7:30pm: Double feature – Escape from New York, Escape from L.A., with a discussion between films with John Carpenter

Sunday, June 15th @ 7:30pm: Double feature – Halloween, Christine

Wednesday, June 18th @ 7:30pm: Big Trouble in Little China, Assault on Precinct 13, with a discussion between films with Austin Stoker
