Giant Bugs (and Aliens) Attack in El Eternauta

Martel adapts influential comic book

Recalling cinema’s 1950s atomic age, Lucrecia Martel (The Woman Without a Head) is directing El Eternauta which takes place during an alien invasion. Those who survived the lethal snowflakes that herald the attack go up against giant insects as well as the unwelcome extraterrestrials.

Argentina’s K&S Films is co-producing with Italy’s Film Maker and Augustin Almodovar’s El Deseo in Spain. Elaborate set pieces and FX are on the order. Martel is scripting once he returns from the Cannes Film Festival where Woman Without a Head is taking its bow.

Eternauta takes its cue from Héctor Germán Oesterheld’s comic book of the same name that was first published in the late-’50s.
