Capitol’s money dries up, films take a hit
Filming shut down last Friday, it seems, on the set of Rob Schmidt’s latest horror film Bad Meat. According to numerous sources reporting into Deadline Hollywood, financier Capitol Films has been facing serious hardships that are reverberating through many of their productions.
Meat, budgeted in the range of $5 – 7 million, ceased shooting because the money reportedly dried up and due to “non-payment of actor salaries.” Problems began when shooting was delayed by ten days, however, when principal photography ceased last week, actors and various crews members began to head home. The film was two weeks out from completion.
Says one of Deadlines sources, “Many, many people are ending up unpaid – actors, crew, catering, travel, etc. Capitol is claiming that money will be flowing by the end of the week for Bad Meat. They’re asserting that they have a very large credit facility coming from Comerica Bank. We all think that’s nonsensical.
Written by Paul Gerstenberger and directed by Schmidt (Wrong Turn), Meat‘s story unfolded in a Boot Camp where problem teens took on staff members infected with tainted food. Elisabeth Harnois, Mark Pellegrino and Dave Franco star.
