Box Office Mojo, by way of Universal Studios, reports Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race is being transported out of its September hub to an August 22nd release date. Also, the MPAA has given the film an R rating for for strong violence and language.
A remake of Paul Bartel’s Death Race 2000, Anderson’s film stars Jason Statham (Crank) as a prison inmate thrust into a deadly competition that could gain him freedom. Tyrese Gibson, Joan Allen and Ian McShane co-star.
