And it’s about to get bloody…
At first glance, we thought this was a redo of the 1989 sci-fi creature feature, Arena (reacquaint yourself), or even something similar to The Outer Limits episode “Fun and Games,” alas, it’s a twist on those previous two tales.
Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell’s screenplay Arena was recently purchased for development by Summit Entertainment. In a nutshell, the story concerns a few displaced modern-day soldiers who are forced to do battle with the best warriors from various eras on a “terrain-shifting” landscape. If they refuse to fight they risk falling victim to the organizer’s of the “arena.”
Howell’s a newcomer to the biz; Wagstaff was once an assistant to Benderspink’s Jim Thompson who brought Arena to Summit’s attention.
