Update: Karloff’s Mummy Gets Legacy Treatment

2-disc set arriving in July

Update: We now have a hi-res look at the cover art below!

Following this news earlier today, it’s a relief to see Karl Freund’s 1932 The Mummy is going to be, well, left in the dust, when it comes to getting a re-issue.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the Boris Karloff-starring classic on July 8th as part of the Legacy Series. The two-disc collector’s edition will include one commentary with film historian Paul M. Jenson and a second with Rick Baker, Scott Essman, Bob Burns, Steve Haberman and Brent Armstrong.

Also expect the following featurettes: Mummy Dearest: A Horror Tradition Unearthed, He Who Made Monsters: Life and Legacy of Jack Pierce, Unraveling the Legacy of The Mummy and Universal Horror. Production stills, trailers and a poster gallery round out the package.
