Based on the supernatural Italian comic book

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh (out promoting his latest, Lie to Me) confirmed to Collider recently the spate of online rumors surrounding the upcoming adaptation of Dylan Dog.

The Italian comic book was being groomed for the big screen by David Ellis under the film title Dead of Night (details). Brandon Routh was the first attached to the cast as the titular paranormal investigator, Dylan Dog. Routh is is still on board the project, however, Ellis has departed making room for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (CGI) helmer Kevin Munroe to write and direct.

Routh explains to Collider why he’s sticking with the part in a new video interview you can find here (video #2, about 2m 55s in). In a nutshell, he says he’s familiar with the original comic book (reprinted by Dark Horse) and he would like to take a crack at the genre.
