From “Christian Chiller” scribe Kathryn Mackel
Kathryn Mackel’s novel The Surrogate has caught the eye of Fox Atomic.
The production division behind 28 Weeks Later hired Rod and Bruce Taylor to adapt this story of a young couple who hired a surrogate to carry their child. In short time the couple realize the person they have let into their lives is not who she claims to be. In fact, she’s quite insane and supernatural forces may have a part in all of it.
Ralph Winter is producing with Susana Zepeda, Robin Guthrie and Deborah Giarratana. Mackel, whose novels also include Vanished and The Hidden, has pioneered the supernatural subgenre known as “Christian chillers.”
