Barker adaptation possibly getting bumped…
“It looks like Lionsgate is going to bump Midnight Meat Train from the May slot.”
That’s what one industry insider told me last week and I’ve been sitting on that intel hoping to get confirmation. Alas, other outlets, who have also heard this, have preemptively decided to blow their load before Lionsgate makes an official announcement. MMT was originally slated to bow May 16th on the cusp of the summer movie season. Now it appears the studio is reconsidering that release.
I spoke with the heads of Lakeshore (producers of the film) last week about the matter and they told me it was the first they had heard of any move. “That would be disappointing,” said one Lakeshore rep.
To interject a bit of commentary on my behalf: If Lionsgate does move the film, I hope it is to fall. Also, re-think the poster campaign!
