CW, Sam Raimi Partner for 13

Horror-themed reality series

Long in development, the horror reality series “13” is officially getting off the ground with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Jay Bienstock (“Survivor,” “The Apprentice”) shepherding it along. Variety announced The CW has ordered up eight episodes that will “utilize horror-themed challenges to knock players off one by one, until just one is left, having survived all that bloodshed.”

The show was originally titled “House of Horror.” Bienstock is currently tweaking the formula and trials of the show taking inspirations from the “Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchises. “We want to cast it like a horror movie,” he tells the trade paper. “And shoot it a little differently as well. Think about those old movies – we want to put people in a place like that, where they have to deal with their fears and anxieties. They’ll end up surprising one another.”

“13” will air sometime this summer.
