Resolute to stand strong against the Hollywood big guns, Courtney Solomon and his After Dark Films’ partner Allan Zeman are giving birth to a new label: Autonomous Films.
“It’s the inverse of Miramax launching Dimension,” Solomon told THR. “It’s more like Dimension launching Miramax.”
Without breaking into the monetary mumbo jumbo (feel free to sift through it all if you’d like by clicking the “Hollywood Reporter” link above), the bottom line is this: Courtney’s got a new playground on which to distribute films as well as put a number of ’em into production. Three are expected to roll cameras in the first quarter of 2008, two comedies and an “action caper” flick.
Wristcutters: A Love Story and Fierce People, both waiting in the wings for release, will come out under the Autonomous name in the coming months.
