Zombie godfather’s spirits are up
Diary of the Dead. Remember that one? Sure you do. The press gobbled up the news of its start like an undead cheerleader feasting on her boyfriend’s entrails. Then we stopped hearing about it as principal photography wrapped in Canada and entered post-production…
Well, AICN got a letter from its director, George Romero (yeah, that guy), who says he’s been busting ass to complete the film under the radar and without scrutinizing eyes watching him all the way.
He adds, “‘Diary’ is a hundred percent independent, made with my partner, Peter Grunwald, and our new friends at Artfire. I haven’t had this much freedom since 1968. The cast, of what film critics will probably call “unknowns” (they won’t be for long) is, in my opinion, f**kin’ great.”
That’s very upbeat, wouldn’t you say? A far cry from the “tired” Romero who watched his Land of the Dead rot on the summertime meathook in 2005.
Those “unknowns” include Shawn Roberts (Stir of Echoes 2, Land of the Dead), Megan Park (Kaw), Chris Violette and Michelle Morgan who venture out into the woods to make a film and find themselves smack-dab in the middle of a undead uprising.
Romero is venturing to Rue Morgue’s Festival of Fear next month, perhaps he’ll have release date details then!
