Update: Before you read further, Schmidt tells Shock this project is still in the early stages and financing is still being locked down.
Here it comes: The torrent of Stephen King adaptations thanks to the success of 1408. Okay, so maybe we’re being a bit dramatic, but the fact that the Dimension Film is still lingering in the top five at the box office bodes well for horror…and future King works.
News out of the East Coast Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors says Stephen King’s Insomnia is the latest adaptation being threaded into the Hollywood pipeline with Wrong Turn‘s Rob Schmidt directing. Where this falls in line with his growing to-do list (don’t forget, he’s got a date with Bad Meat) we’re not exactly clear, but we’ll find out soon enough.
Ralph Roberts is the protagonist of King’s ’94 novel, a fella who can’t seem to sleep and believes the visions he’s having in the town of Derry, Maine are more than just a result of his insomnia.
