MGM to release Price classic on DVD
In addition to the more modern horror fare being released to DVD this fall (such as the upcoming From Beyond Special Edition), MGM is finally going to give the States a proper DVD release of Michael Reeves’ Witchfinder General (a.k.a. The Conqueror Worm), starring Vincent Price.
Released in 1968, this violent period piece found Price gnashing at the role of Matthew Hopkins, a corrupt and naughty “witchfinder” who seeks out those supposedly practicing the black arts.
No telling if they’re importing the bonus material from the Region 2 edition released a few years back, but you can look for it on disc September 11th under the studio’s “Midnight Movies” banner. Also on that date: The Food of the Gods, nature-run-amok cinema at its finest (?).
