Behr, Brooks and Dragons, oh my
Freestyle Releasing (An American Haunting) is readying D-War for distribution this August. They’re thinking ambitious, like, 1,500 screens, but that’s still to be determined.
Long in development and heavy on the FX, D-War in a nutshell chronicles the return of ancient dragons and the destruction they cause on Los Angeles. Yee-haw. Caught in the middle of this serpentine plot is Jason Behr (The Grudge) and Amanda Brooks (Flightplan), American actors hired on South Korean production funding. You can check out a trailer here.
The film has been in the works for seemingly forever. Reports placed its budget at $70 million, however, Variety says costs were lowered about $32 million.
Showbox will release the film in Korea on August 2nd. Freestyle hasn’t locked a date for its domestic run.
