For new DTV adventure
A widespread announcement from Warner Premiere – the WB’s direct-to-vid label – has given indication that everyone’s favorite “bio-exorcist” is finally being exhumed for his long-awaited sequel.
According to Moviehole, Warner states in a press release that Beetlejuice 2 will join a spate of forthcoming DTV sequels from the studio which will include The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe and the recently completed Return to House on Haunted Hill.
Tim Burton will executive produce the follow-up and one would need some powerful necro-magic to truly believe the original film’s star Michael Keaton will return. One thing to set us at ease: There was no mention of the words “Beetlejuice” or “Hawaii” in the release which could mean the proposed Beetlejuice in Hawaii sequel that has been in the rumor mill for years has finally been laid to rest.
