New Scribe Joins Hack/Slash

Based on the popular horror comic

There’s a new name involved in Rogue Pictures’ Hack/Slash. Shock has learned writer Ben Magid is working alongside ‘Slash’ director and co-writer Todd Lincoln to fine-tune this comic book adaptation of Tim Seeley’s horror series.

Magid, once an assistant for David Kirschner (Frailty, Bride of Chucky), has been generating a fair amount of buzz since selling Pan to New Line last year. The story turns the “Peter Pan” mythos upside-down and inside-out with the titular flying punk now portrayed as a villain who is being tracked down by a cop bearing the name “Hook.” It’s currently set up at Brooklyn Weaver’s Energy Entertainment.

Interesting that Magid should join Hack/Slash as the project is also a twist on pre-existing material – in this case the broad pantheon of slasher cinema. Published by Devil’s Due, the comic book focuses on Cassie Hack and her partner, Vlad, as they scour the country seeking supernatural killers. Lincoln is making his directorial debut with the feature which is being produced by Hitman‘s Dan Alter, Adrian Askarieh and Howard Sun.
