Another ’80s remake picks up steam
Jamie Lee Curtis can claim to have one more thing in common with old pal John Carpenter – all of her films are being remade now, too. From Halloween to Prom Night to…Terror Train.
An update of “Terror” has been idling on the tracks awaiting a conductor for some time now; according to The Hollywood Reporter it has finally found one. Gideon Raff will write and direct this remake of the 1980 Curtis-starring slasher directed by Roger Spottiswoode. The notable trivia that comes with this one is the fact that David Copperfield had a supporting role as the, you guessed it, magician. Maybe Raff will nab Vegas illusionist Chriss Angel this time?
Nu Image will produce with Boaz Davidson, Danny Lerner and Les Weldon. The aim is to begin shooting this summer in Bulgaria.
In the original, a sinister prank has long-lasting effects which become fatally apparent when a group of college students throw a costume party aboard a train. Raff recently directed The Killing Floor – an AFM entry from last year that this writer missed but stars Marc Blucas (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) and Shiri Appleby (“Roswell”) in a plot involving a literary agent who moves in to the wrong penthouse.
