John Carpenter is once again returning to themes from his movies and reworking them with a follow-up to his 2017 album Anthology set to be released this October.
John Carpenter: Anthology II (Movies Themes 1976-1988) sees the iconic director take the themes of his great works and modernize them with frequent collaborators Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter. The first Anthology did this superbly, bringing theme songs for Escape From New York, Assault on Precinct 13, Prince of Darkness, and of course, Halloween.
The new album goes a little deeper than main themes this time, but it does feature a reworking of Halloween III: Season of the Witch theme Chariot of Pumpkins which is available now on YouTube and streaming music platforms.
Chariot of Pumpkins Track
The biggest news, however, is that three previously unreleased tracks for The Thing are included. Carpenter shelved his own score for the movie when he was able to get the legendary Ennio Morricone to score it instead. So this is a bit of a special.
