The Purge franchise continues to have impressive legs at the box office, and has even spawned a TV series, but that hasn’t stopped series creator James DeMonaco from crafting what he believes would be a fitting end to the bloody saga.

Speaking in an interview with EW, DeMonaco explained the next entry will likely be the last. “I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”

The film franchise revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. To date, four films in the series have been released theatrically, including The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge: Election Year, and The First Purge. The series has brought in $456.1 million globally with the most recent entry becoming the highest grossing film in the series.
