Katy Perry Space Launch: What Time Does Blue Origin Take Off?

Wondering when Katy Perry’s space launch with Blue Origin is set to happen? The pop star joins a headline-making mission alongside a group of high-profile women, marking a notable moment in private spaceflight. With the launch set for early in the week and preparations underway, excitement is building for the brief but historic trip.

Here’s what we know about Katy Perry’s upcoming Blue Origin flight.

When does Katy Perry go to space in the Blue Origin?

Katy Perry will launch into space on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. EDT (1:30 a.m. GMT+10) aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. Blue Origin will stream the launch live from its West Texas facility, Launch Site One, on Space.com.

She will be part of an all-female crew, joined by Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, and Kerianne Flynn. This mission marks the first all-female spaceflight since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963. The six women will fly just above the Kármán line, 62 miles above Earth, briefly experiencing weightlessness before descending by parachutes into the Texas desert.

The 10-minute flight marks Blue Origin’s 11th human-crewed mission using its autonomous New Shepard system, named after astronaut Alan Shepard. The company designed the rocket for suborbital space tourism and operates it without a pilot on board.

Lauren Sánchez organized the mission and teamed up with Monse designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim to redesign the flight suits. They crafted the custom suits from flame-resistant stretch neoprene and removed the black shoulder and leg accents seen in Blue Origin’s standard suits. “We also wanted something that was a little dangerous, like a motocross outfit. Or a ski suit,” Garcia said to The New York Times.

Gayle King described the new suits as “professional and feminine at the same time.” Katy Perry, who was seen in a preview image released by Blue Origin on April 12, expressed excitement about the mission, stating, “I’m really excited about the engineering of it all,” in a press statement.
