From playing a tough U.S. deputy female marshall in 1923 to delivering unforgettable roles in Dexter and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Jennifer Carpenter has played a wide range of interesting characters over the years.

So, here’s a list of Jennifer Carpenter’s movies and shows to watch.

1923

Jennifer Carpenter takes on the role of Mamie Fossett, a no-nonsense U.S. deputy female marshall in 1923, the Yellowstone prequel. Set in the early 20th century, the series depicts the Dutton family’s struggles during Prohibition and the Great Depression. Carpenter’s character is recruited to track down an Indigenous woman accused of murdering two nuns.

Dexter & Dexter: New Blood

Carpenter became a household name as Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sharp-tongued yet deeply loyal sister in Dexter. In Dexter: New Blood, she returns in a surprising way—as Dexter’s hallucinated conscience that haunts him in his new life.

White Chicks

Before taking on roles like 1923 Female Marshall, Jennifer Carpenter delivered one of the most iconic cult movies, White Chicks. She played Lisa Anderson, a wealthy socialite caught up in the chaos of two FBI agents (the Wayans brothers) disguised as privileged women.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

One of Jennifer Carpenter’s most chilling performances and best-known movies was The Exorcism of Emily Rose, based on a true story. As Emily Rose, a college student believed to be possessed, she delivered a physically and emotionally grueling performance.

Limitless

CBS’s Limitless is a continuation of the 2011 film of the same name. Set four years after the events of the film, the series follows Brian Finch, played by Jake McDorman, who gains enhanced mental faculties after taking a mysterious nootropic drug. Carpenter plays Rebecca Harris, an FBI agent who becomes Brian’s handler, overseeing his work for the bureau. This role is similar to her 1923’s Female Marshall.
