As per official reports, Dark Winds was shot mainly in the capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe. The show returned there for Season 3 as well. The New Mexico Film Office Director Amber Dodson congratulated the show on its immense success and critical acclaim.

It is a melting pot of Native, Spanish, and American cultures and was a stunning addition to the show’s ambiance. Lastly, AMC confirmed that for all the scenes that Dark Winds did not film on location, the crew shot at the Camel Rock Studios in the tribal lands at Tesuque Pueblo in New Mexico.
