A new report claims that actress Aubrey Plaza and her late husband Jeff Baena had already parted ways before his death. The Horse Girl director passed away at the age of 47 on Friday, January 3, 2025. Following his demise, the autopsy report stated that Baena’s cause of death was suicide.

“Agatha All Along” star Aubrey Plaza and her husband Jeff Baena had already separated 4 months before his death in January 2025. The Medical Examiner’s report, which was obtained by People Magazine, made the claim.
In the report, the Los Angeles County examiner stated that the couple was facing issues in their marriage. This ultimately led to their separation. The statement noted, “According to the reported information, the decedent Jeffrey Baena is a 47-year-old Caucasian male. He was experiencing recent marital difficulties and was separated from his wife since September 2024.”
It stated that Baena was constantly making “concerning remarks to wife” in October 2024. This urged Plaza “to call a friend to perform a welfare check on her husband.” Baena had also been going to therapy after the welfare check.
The medical examiner’s report claimed that Plaza got a text message at 10:36 AM from her husband on the day he died. It further asserted that Baena’s dogwalker was the first to discover his body and report it.
After her husband Baena’s tragic death, Aubrey Plaza and the rest of their family issued a statement which read, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. Please respect our privacy during this time.” A few days after his demise, fans also noticed that the actress had deleted her official Instagram handle.
As reported by Coming Soon before, a month after Baena’s death, Plaza also made a brief appearance at the SNL50: The Anniversary Special. She paid tribute to him with a tye-dye shirt.
