Fans worldwide are mourning the visionary writer whose dark humor and surreal storytelling transformed both animation and live-action comedy.

David Steven Cohen passes away at 58, claims report

As per Jerry Back’s Facebook post, David Steven Cohen has passed away due to cancer. Beck remembered Cohen as “an accomplished writer, composer, animation lover and friend.” Cohen was reportedly 58 years old.

In the post. Beck highlighted Cohen’s work on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, Alf, and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. Beck concluded the post, writing, “What a great guy. A true friend to all. You did good, David. You won’t be forgotten.”

Cohen joined the writers’ team of Courage the Cowardly Dog in Season 1 and became the head writer over the next few seasons. Along with Beck, the Reddit community is also paying tribute to David Steven Cohen’s legacy.

A fan posted on the platform, “Courage is a legitimate inspirational character for me. The embodiment of the phrase ‘if you want to do something but you’re scared, then do it scared.’ Thank you for your work, David. Rest in peace.”
