Grimes Claims She ‘Begged’ Elon Musk to Keep Their Kids Offline

Renowned Canadian musician Grimes has come out to urge former partner Elon Musk to keep the duo’s three kids off the internet. The “Genesis” singer’s request comes after the Tesla CEO took their 4-year-old son, X Æ A-XII, to a White House press conference in February 2025. Following the event, she voiced her opinion regarding the adverse effects that the media spotlight tends to have on growing children. In accordance, Grimes, or Claire Elise Boucher, as is her original name, has issued yet another statement highlighting concerns for her kids.

Here’s what the 37-year-old musician had to say about Musk and the influence of his public presence on their children.

What did Grimes reveal about Elon Musk?

On March 14, 2025, the singer took to social media to pen a detailed report on how exposure to the online world could affect the lives of her and Elon Musk’s kids.

“I unfortunately do not control the internet and cannot wipe this from the internet. I have tried begging the public and my kids’ dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse,” Grimes noted on X (formerly Twitter). She added, “I follow you here I’ve seen young ppl destroyed by the internet too. The state of my children’s lives being public is of grave concern to me and I think about how to solve this every day. It’s insane to me that there’s no way to deal with this.”

Grimes then expressed the desire for having a legal structure that would allow parents to have more control over their kids’ activities in public. She said, “I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives but I don’t even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it tbh.”

Aside from X Æ A-XII, Elon Musk and Grimes share two more kids, namely, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus. Following their separation, the two even filed lawsuits against one another over the parental rights of their children in October 2023.
