Scarlett Johansson revealed in a recent interview why she does not like taking photos with fans when not attending public events. Despite being one of the most famous names in Hollywood, the actress has chosen to maintain significant privacy when it comes to her personal life.
Here’s why Johansson avoids taking pictures with her fans.
Why does Scarlett Johansson avoid taking photos with fans?
In a recent interview with InStyle magazine, Scarlett Johansson said she avoids taking pictures with fans. “It really offends a lot of people. It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me.”
The Black Widow star then stressed how she told people that when she was “not working,” she didn’t want to be associated with them at a particular place and time. She also clarified that movie premiere attendances counted as a working activity for her.
Johansson then expressed how she wished to be in her own thoughts which did not require other people’s opinions. She also mentioned her dislike for being “self-conscious.” The Marriage Story star then spoke of how Chappell Roan‘s struggles with fame had resonated with her. This was after she had read a piece on her and “fell in love with her over the summer.”
Moreover, Scarlett Johansson also spoke of how she was a “private person” who valued her “close friendships.” She noted how her family’s privacy and children’s anonymity were things that were “very precious” to her.
Despite this comment, Johansson’s husband Colin Jost occassionally jokes about their marriage on SNL’s Weekend Update.
Furthermore, the Black Widow actress also opened up about her desire to keep her kids away from the spotlight. “The thing about being a public figure is that the idea of being recognizable and celebrated feels fun, but then you can never stuff it back in the bottle,” she said. “The reality of it is, there’s a massive loss to that, you know? So I think preserving that for as long as possible until it’s someone’s choice, that’s the choice I make as far as my kids go.”
