What happens to Conquest in Invincible Season 3, Episode 8?
Conquest is brutally beaten up by Invincible and later imprisoned by Cecil Stedman in the Invincible Season 3 finale.
After their brutal battle, which seemingly ends with Invincible beating Conquest to death, Mark demands to see his body. Cecil complies, revealing Conquest inside a body bag. Mark then instructs Cecil to burn the body, and Cecil appears to agree.
However, the ever-paranoid and strategic Cecil secretly stores Conquest’s body inside a 400-ton steel alloy block, buried 600 miles underground in the desert. The Global Defense Agency director intends for Conquest to recover and heal, hoping to extract crucial information about the Viltrum Empire to aid in his plans to stop them.
Meanwhile, Mark’s moral code takes a darker turn after his battle with Conquest. Visiting his half-brother Oliver, who is hospitalized after nearly being killed in the fight, Mark admits that Oliver was right about using lethal force against their enemies. He then vows that if anyone ever threatens his loved ones again, he won’t hesitate to kill them.
Atom Eve survives the ordeal with Conquest as her powers ended up rebuilding her body, and overrode the mental blocks she had placed on herself to limit her powers’ capacity, after the latter had badly damaged it. She mentions that a similar incident occurred before. However, she had not told Mark of it before as she could not find the right time to do so.
It will be interesting to see how Mark’s changing moral code will impact his dynamics with his enemies in the future and his relationships with his friends and loved ones.
