Scarlett Johansson has finally shared her full reaction to Colin Jost‘s inappropriate Saturday Night Live joke about her from December 2024. Johansson has often been the subject of crude jokes from Jost and Michael Che on their SNL segment Weekend Update. These jokes have typically addressed aspects of the 40-year-old actress’ career, her appearance, and her personal life.
Here is what Johansson had to say about Colin Jost’s SNL joke from December.
What did Scarlett Johansson say about Colin Jost’s joke?
Scarlett Johansson called Colin Jost’s Saturday Night Live joke “vulgar” and “gross.”
“I just can’t believe that they went there. I was like—it was so gross,” the Avengers star told InStyle. “It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross.”
However, Johansson acknowledged that it was a humorous experience, noting that the producers informed her in advance about Michael Che writing the joke. The Jurassic World Rebirth actress then shared how she initially thought the joke wasn’t referring to her, assuming it wouldn’t be that disgusting.
Johansson then spoke of how she felt overwhelmed when the cameras surrounded her to capture her reaction to the joke, calling the experience “intense.” She noted how there were multiple people with lights as well as a camera operator. “They were waiting for me to react. I felt insane,” she added.
However, the joke did not seem to create any issue between Johansson and Jost. Instead, the two ended up laughing about it together when they went to bed at 4:00 a.m.
For context, in December 2024, Colin Jost made a series of jokes aimed at Johansson. In one of his jokes, he addressed how Costco had removed roast beef sandwiches from its menu. Jost jokingly claimed that he wasn’t “trippin'” and that he had been consuming roast beef ever since Johansson gave birth to their son, Cosmo.
