Scarlett Johansson is set to star in the upcoming Jurassic Park installment, Jurassic World Rebirth. However, ahead of the movie’s 2025 release, the Marvel star remains firm in her decision not to open an Instagram account for promotional activities. Fans are well aware of Johansson’s long-standing choice to avoid social media. It seems she has no plans to change that anytime soon.
Here’s everything you need to know about Scarlett Johansson’s unwavering decision. Let’s explore why she remains committed to staying off Instagram, even while promoting her upcoming movie, Jurassic World Rebirth.
Scarlett Johansson ‘didn’t feel like’ joining Instagram for ‘Jurassic World’
Scarlett Johansson remains unwavering in her decision to stay off social media, even when urged by Universal Pictures.
To promote the movie, Universal Pictures urged the Black Widow star to open an Instagram account. However, their request was met with a sharp refusal. In a recent interview with InStyle, Johansson recounted the exchange.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media,” shared Johansson. Addressing her decision to stay offline, she further continued, “Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could.”
The Oscar nominated actress has always been steadfast about not joining any social media platforms. Explaining why she doesn’t hop on the global trend, she stated, “The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient. So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon,” she said. “But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine.”
Jurassic World Rebirth is slated to arrive in theaters on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the movie serves as a standalone sequel to the 2022 movie Jurassic World Dominion. Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson in the lead role. Additionally, the cast includes Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Luna Blaise, among others.
