Blake Lively Demands To Keep Her Messages Private Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

Actress Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have taken legal action to protect their private communications. They have asked the court to secure messages exchanged between them and their high-profile friends. This request comes as a new development in an ongoing lawsuit involving Justin Baldoni and his legal team. Reportedly, The Green Lantern stars are concerned that the opposing side might leak these messages to the media, potentially compromising their privacy.

Blake Lively’s lawyers demand her texts with celebs to be private

Meryl Conant Governski, a lawyer representing Lively and Reynolds, appeared before Judge Lewis Liman in a virtual hearing at the Manhattan federal court on Thursday, March 6, and requested the “Attorney’s Eyes Only” protection for the messages between the celebrity couple and their friends from Baldoni and his publicists. Notably, a proposed protective order to stop the leak of any sensitive information by either team is already under consideration by the court.

Governski didn’t mention the names of the celebrities that might appear in the text messages that Lively and Reynolds shared with Baldoni’s team. However, various outlets have reported over the years that the Deadpool & Wolverine actors are close friends with the likes of Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman, Gigi Hadid, Emily Blunt, and John Krasinski.

“There is a significant chance of irreparable harm if marginal conversations with high profile individuals with no relevance to the case were to fall into wrong hands,” Governski said during the hearing. “There are 100 million reasons for these parties to leak information because the PR value is greater than complying with the court’s orders,” the lawyer added. Meanwhile, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman dismissed Lively and Reynolds’ request for “Attorney’s Eyes Only” protection as “unnecessary” and added that it was “offensive that anyone would suggest that we would disregard a protective order.”

Liman didn’t provide a judgment. In late December 2024, Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department against Baldoni and others before suing them. In January 2025, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit of his own against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist, Leslie Sloan. (via NPR)
