Adam Sandler Hugs Timothée Chalamet Before ‘Storming Out’ of Oscars

Adam Sandler participated in a comedic bit at the 2025 Oscars, embraced Timothée Chalamet affectionately, and then appeared to storm out during Conan O’Brien’s opening monologue. The seemingly scripted bit won viewers over, as many gushed, “Protect Adam Sandler At All Costs.”

Adam Sandler hugs Timothée Chalament before leaving Oscars

Amid the glamorous crowd of attendees at this year’s Oscars, Adam Sandler stood out in his blue hoodie and “snazzy” gym shorts. The actor left the Academy Awards ceremony after being called out for his outfit, but not before hugging Timothée Chalamet.

Sandler was sitting casually amid the Academy Award attendees. Conan O’Brien came on stage to deliver his opening monologue and mentioned how everyone was “properly dressed.” He paused for a moment and directly addressed Sandler, obviously questioning the Grammy-nominated artist’s outfit choice.

Sandler innocently asked, “Conan. What’s up, my brother? What’s going on, man?” before O’Brien asked, “Adam, what are you wearing?” Sandler seemed taken aback at the question as he said, “What are you doing right now?” O’Brien replied, “I’m asking you, what are you wearing?”

Sandler defended his outfit choices vehemently. The 58-year-old artist responded, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up!” O’Brien was not ready to let it go. He said, “You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 AM, Adam.” Sandler countered back, “You know what? I like the way I look because I’m a good person.”

The Primetime Emmy Award winner went on a mini-rant. He tells O’Brien, “I don’t care about what I wear or don’t wear. If my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers, I’m going.”

Sandler rose from his seat to leave the ceremony. But he had one major task to do before leaving. The Murder Mystery actor went straight to Timothée Chalamet and hugged him briefly before leaving the Oscars.

Lip-reading experts have uncovered Chalamet’s adorable nickname for Sandler during their exchange. Jeremy Freeman told OK! Magazine that Chalamet appeared to say, “Okay, okay, see you, Pooh?” as Sandler embraced him. While the nickname’s origins are unknown, fans are convinced the pair share a genuine off-camera friendship that transcends their professional relationship.
