A notable song that recently trended on TikTok was Bad Bunny’s “DTMF.”

“Hostile Government” is a politically themed song on TikTok. It addresses the current political state of the US after Donald Trump assumed office as president for the second time. This song is trending as it allows viewers to express their political opinions in a very catchy and relatable manner.

The song was originally written and sung by TikTok user, Todd, AKA @agiftfromtodd. Upon release, the video garnered over a million likes and shares. That same day, Todd also uploaded a four-part harmony version of the song. This was in response to a fan, who had asked him for a five-part harmony version.

Two days following the song’s initial upload, Todd uploaded another video, where he thanked fans for watching, supporting, and sharing his work. He then revealed that he was going to remake the song and put it on music streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Albeit, Todd shared he was waiting for SoundCloud to give him an Artist Pro account and to approve him for the other two accounts.

The original “Hostile Government” song’s popularity also inspired multiple remixes and versions. The most notable one is an EDM that was made by musician Vinny Marchi, known on TikTok as @veryveryvinny. As of this writing, this version of the song is available on Spotify.

The popularity only further grew to the point that the song was talked about in Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Here, the talk show host not only addressed the song and its various remixes, he also claimed that the original should be the new “national anthem.” Moreover, he opined that the EDM remix made by Vinny Marchi was his favorite version of the song.
