Here is what Pearce said about the House of Cards actor.
What did Guy Pearce say about Kevin Spacey?
Recently, Guy Pearce opened up about his experience with Kevin Spacey while filming L.A. Confidential. Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, Pearce became emotional as he recalled feeling uncomfortable on set due to Spacey’s behavior.
Pearce noted that he was not sexually assaulted by Spacey. However, he felt uncomfortable working with Spacey. He described Spacey as “extremely charming” but also “aggressive” and admitted feeling “scared” at times. Pearce said, “But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question.”
At the time, Pearce brushed off the interactions, but the weight of those experiences hit him years later. He recalled breaking down in 2017 when allegations against Spacey surfaced amid the #MeToo movement. He shared, “I broke down and sobbed, and I couldn’t stop. I think it really dawned on me the impact that had occurred and how I sort of brushed it off and how I had either shelved it or blocked it out or whatever.”
Pearce had briefly spoken about Spacey before, referring to him as a “handsy guy” in a 2018 interview. However, he quickly clarified that he wasn’t a victim of assault. In this new interview, he spoke more candidly, acknowledging that he has since had “ugly” confrontations with Spacey. While he initially didn’t want to focus on his own experiences, he now believes it’s important to be honest. Pearce said, “I don’t want him to get away with what he gets away with.”
Spacey has denied all allegations against him. Meanwhile, Pearce is receiving recognition for his role in The Brutalist, earning an Oscar nomination.
