The White Lotus Season 3 changed its intro music to align with its theme. The first season’s theme song titled “Aloha”! became popular for its unique and memorable melody. Season 2 had an operatic remix titled “Renaissance” and was also a massive hit among fans.
However, composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer has now come up with a fresh theme song for the new installment. It has a slightly more atmospheric and surreal vibe as compared to the groovy dance track in the previous installment.
However, the reason behind the change was to keep up with the theme of Season 3. The series changes its theme music every season to reflect the story, setting, and characters. For instance, the second season’s music had elements of Renaissance and Italian opera since the story was set in Sicily. The third season’s theme is spirituality, which explains the track’s mystical quality.
During an interview with Variety, Tapia de Veer explained how Season 3’s track was inspired by a song he heard on TikTok. “I think that the best song I heard in the last few years that I can remember is people harmonizing to a cat on TikTok.” He praised the originality of the Tiktok video stating, ”It’s super moving and so spontaneous and fresh that this is grabbing a lot more my attention than super-produced pop music.”
However, fans of the show are confused and disappointed as they were habituated to the original theme songs. A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “THE WHITE LOTUS MAIN TITLE THEME SONG IS GONE I’M CRYING WTF IS HAPPENING.” Another fan remarked that the makers shouldn’t have changed the intro music as the new song “doesn’t hit the same.”
