With Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed on track to premiere across Windows systems and Xbox Series X/S, fans have raised doubts if the video game will ever receive a PS5 release date. An amalgamation of first-person and third-person styles, the action RPG sees players explore the diverse world of Eora in an attempt to uncover the mystery of a ravaging plague known as Dream Scourge. Interested gamers already have the option to gain early access to Avowed on the aforementioned platforms, leading PlayStation 5 owners to question if they’ll get to experience the same service anytime soon.

Will Avowed get a PS5 release date in 2025?
At the time of writing, Obsidian Entertainment has issued no official plans to release a PS5-compatible version of Avowed.
Taking place in the same universe as 2015’s Pillars of Eternity, the Carrie Patel-helmed video game currently operates as an Xbox and PC exclusive. This is particularly due to Microsoft acquiring Obsidian Entertainment in 2018 to produce games for Xbox Game Studios.
Nevertheless, several Xbox exclusives have made their way to PlayStation in recent times, giving PS5 owners a glimmer of hope for Avowed. For instance, the critically acclaimed Sea of Thieves and the forthcoming Forza Horizon 5 are prime examples of titles that expanded their platform reach by including the Sony-owned console.
Moreover, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, confirmed in an earlier interview with Bloomberg that his team does not intend to block Xbox exclusives from making the jump to other platforms. “I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,'” he exclaimed.
Spencer reiterated this sentiment in a separate interview with Danny Peña, stating, “In the position I’m in, I look at hardware as a critical part of what we do, not trying to gatekeep the games off other places.”
As such, it is possible for Avowed to get a PS5 release in the near future. Microsoft could even expedite the premiere if the game ends up with an underwhelming sales return on Xbox and PC. Nevertheless, there are no official plans to release Avowed on PlayStation in 2025 as of now.
