Despite exiting Days of Our Lives way back in 1998, Jason Brooks’ masterful take on the villainous Peter Blake continues to intrigue fans to this day. Blake was one of the most memorable antagonists on the long-running soap, effectively depicting how obsession can lead an influential man to commit unimaginable acts of vileness. While Brooks departed the series in 1998, the fate of his character remained up in the air for a very long time.
So, how did the former DiMera family attorney’s arc come to a conclusion in Days of Our Lives? Did Peter Blake actually die?
Did Peter Blake die on Days of Our Lives?
In 2019, James Reynolds’ Abe Carver confirmed that Peter Blake had, in fact, passed away shortly after completing his time in prison.
Brooks’ Peter Blake made his Days of Our Lives debut in 1993 as the son of Stefano DiMera. Initially appearing as a powerful businessman, it was soon revealed that Blake engages in illicit activities just like his father. While his foul intentions only worsened over time, they arguably climaxed after he fell in love with Jennifer Horton. He eventually succeeded in marrying Horton but only grew more and more desperate to maintain their relationship over time.
Succumbing to his dark side, Blake carried out several criminal plans, including attempted murder and abduction. Noticing Blake’s nefarious character, Jack Deveraux, Jennifer’s ex-husband, ultimately decided to bring the business mogul to justice. The two subsequently locked horns, with their scuffle ending in Jack shooting Peter Blake in Days of Our Lives.
While Blake was presumed dead, it was soon disclosed that Stefano had actually saved his son’s life. After making a return to Salem, Blake quickly resumed his schemes to win Jennifer back. Blake was ultimately arrested by the police following an unsuccessful kidnapping attempt on Jennifer. Stefano used his influence to shorten Blake’s sentence, who achieved freedom only a short while after his incarceration.
Nevertheless, Peter Blake never made another in-person appearance on Days of Our Lives after that. While he continued to affect the lives of the leading characters from the shadows, Abe Carver revealed in a 2019 episode that the evil businessman had met his end. To date, the exact details surrounding his off-screen death have remained unclear. However, Blake’s inexplicable actions still managed to leave a lasting impact on the likes of Jennifer, Jack, and, most importantly, the DOOL fans.
