Burke spoke about her recent lifestyle decisions during an appearance on iHeart Radio’s I Do, Part 2 podcast on Wednesday, February 12. She revealed that she has not gone out on a date for over a year, explained why she is against one-night stands, and underscored the reasons behind her decision to be celibate. “I’m not dating and I’m choosing not to date,” she said, before confirming that it had been over a year since her last date. Burke added, “I still think guys are hot. That doesn’t mean though, that they deserve me.” (via People)
The talented performer described herself as a “sober woman” who is interested in “respecting and loving” herself before elaborating on her dislike of one-night stands. “The thing is, you have sex with me, I fall in love fast,” she said. “So like, this is not a good thing, right? So we’re working through this. We’re like, ‘Okay, well, maybe it doesn’t have to be so intense.’ I am such an intense woman…it is what it is, it’s who I am,” she further stated.
Burke said on the podcast that her perspective of sex has altered, as she now believes that “none of it is real.” According to her, the real thing is “whatever happened physically” that someone “allowed for it to happen” to themselves. Further, she reflected on the casual relationships from her past and how they impacted her “soul” and noted that the sexual abuse she suffered as a child influenced her ability to be “truly intimate” with someone.
