A$AP Rocky trial new updates as Rihanna joins court with their sons

A$AP Rocky’s trial in Los Angeles saw closing arguments on Thursday with Rihanna and their two young sons, RZA and Riot, in attendance.

Deputy District Attorney Paul Przelomiec told jurors the main issue was, “Was it a real gun or was it a fake gun?” Rocky, born Rakim Athelaston Mayers, faces two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm for allegedly firing at former friend Terell Ephron, known as A$AP Relli, in 2021. Przelomiec argued Rocky’s guilt was clear, while defense attorney Joe Tacopina claimed the weapon was a prop gun from Rocky’s “DMB” music video shoot. Tacopina labeled Relli “an angry pathological liar” and dismissed the injury as mere “knuckle scrapes,” not from a bullet. Surveillance footage captured the incident, but its quality left room for debate.

Rihanna arrived during the closing argument with her two sons, RZA and Riot. The boys, dressed in suits, were present as Rocky’s lawyer argued that firing a real gun near friend A$AP Illz made no sense. Tacopina said the weapon fired blanks and accused the prosecution’s witnesses of lying. Przelomiec claimed Rocky coached witnesses during testimony, while Tacopina highlighted inconsistencies in Relli’s statements.

Rocky could serve up to 24 years in prison if the jury convicts him. During testimony, tour manager Lou Levin backed the defense’s claim that Rocky used a prop gun for security purposes. Tacopina accused Relli of seeking financial gain, citing recorded calls where Relli allegedly pursued a multimillion-dollar settlement.

Jurors will begin deliberations after rebuttals, with neither side presenting the alleged weapon in court.
