Nick eventually gets a significant stab wound while fighting Ronnie, his rival. The latter is working with Noah’s criminal father, Travis, who is holding her hostage. However, Nick brushes off this wound trying to rescue Noah. He gets into a car and tails Travis, who in a separate car with Noah, coerces her into outrunning him. Nick eventually catches up to both of them. In the process, his car collides with Travis’ and flips upside down, further worsening his stab wound.

Luckily, Nick is eventually given timely medical care and survives his stab wound. Moreover, his survival is only revealed to viewers in the epilogue, set six months after the events of the film.
