A new online report has emerged revealing that Wendy Williams has signed an affidavit to end her guardianship, which had been going on for three years. The report also claims that Williams is going to undergo a medical test. This development comes on the heels of TMZ and Tubi dropping a new documentary called Saving Wendy. The documentary explored her guardianship and the troubles she endured because of it.
Reports claim Wendy Williams set to end guardianship
Wendy Williams recently signed an affidavit to end her guardianship as per a new report from TMZ.
Williams has reportedly mentioned in the affidavit that she has now “regained capacity” to live her life without the need for a guardian. Furthermore, she has also mentioned that she does not have frontotemporal dementia. Previously, in early 2024, doctors had diagnosed her with that disease. They had also diagnosed her with aphasia.
Additionally, the outlet has also claimed that Wendy Williams will undergo a medical test next Tuesday. This test will be conducted by a doctor specifically chosen by the attorney Williams hired to terminate her years-long guardianship.
The outlet further states that Williams and her attorney have a backup plan in case the judge dismisses her request to end her guardianship, which will be for Williams to demand a jury trial, where jurors would make the final call on whether she is capable of living her life without a guardian’s supervision.
Last month, Williams and her niece Alex Finnie gave an interview with The Breakfast Club, detailing Williams’ guardianship. Here, she likened her guardianship to imprisonment and vehemently denied she was “cognitively impaired.”
The Saving Wendy documentary shed more light on Williams’ guardianship. Here, the former talk show host revealed some crucial details. These included being constantly confined to her room, not allowed access to an iPad/personal phone, and her guardian Sabrina Morrissey being legally allowed to make money off of her. She also accused her son of being responsible for her guardianship and claimed that he overstepped his boundaries.
