Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady recently appeared in a Super Bowl commercial and many commenters online have criticized the ad. The short video made its debut on February 9 during the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Although the commercial was an anti-hate campaign, people were unimpressed with Snoop Dogg being a part of it after his controversial performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Why is Snoop Dogg facing backlash over Super Bowl commercial?
Rapper Snoop Dogg was featured in an anti-hate commercial recently with NFL legend Tom Brady, which was aired at the 2025 Super Bowl. The commercial was part of the No Reason to Hate campaign started by the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism. However, people on the internet bombarded the commercial with criticism for having the rapper in it, seemingly because of his performance at Trump’s inauguration.
In the 30-second ad, the two stars can be seen engaging in a back-and-forth and listing out the reasons for which they hate each other. It started with Dogg saying, “I hate you because we from different neighborhoods” to Brady, who in his reply, asserted, “I hate you because you look different.”
This back-and-forth continues with Dogg telling the former NFL quarterback that he hates him “because I don’t understand you.” Brady, on the other hand, said, “because people I know I hate you.” The confrontation between the two ends with a black backdrop appearing in the video with a message that reads, “The reasons for hate are as stupid as they sound.”
A user on X (formerly Twiter) wrote, “Snoopy has no business lecturing no one.” Another user wrote, “If Snoop Dog wanted to stand up to hate, he shouldn’t have sold out and performed at Trump’s inauguration.”
Snoop Dogg was heavily criticized for his performance at Trump’s Inaugural Crypto Ball. Following the backlash on his performance, the rapper took to his Instagram and responded, “For all the hate, I’m gonna answer it with love. Y’all can’t hate enough on me. You can be up one minute, and they’ll try to pull you down the next.”
