Beverly Ortega had to leave The Bachelor Season 29 reportedly due to health concerns.
In the recent episode, Ortega got the chance to go on a one-on-one date with bachelor Grant Ellis. While viewers were expecting the insurance salesperson’s winning chances to increase, things ended up taking a shocking turn. The date never happened and in reality, Ortega was forced to depart from the series due to health issues. As a result, fans were confused and tried to find out what exactly happened to the contestant.
According to The Bachelor’s spoiler expert Reality Steve, Ortega started facing health issues in the previous episode itself. As fans are aware, the second episode of Season 29 witnessed the ladies engaging in an intense basketball battle on the first group date. While the women were pumped in the five-on-five game, things weren’t going well for Ortega. (via Parade)
During the game, she reportedly started having breathing issues and the producers advised her to sit out during the second half. Further, the producers sent the 30-year-old to the hospital for safety. It is possible that Ortega’s breathing problem led to her sudden departure from the show.
Additionally, another contestant on the show, Parisa Shifteh, addressed Ortega’s exit in her confessional in Episode 3. She stated, “Today was supposed to be Beverly’s one-on-one with Grant. But yesterday morning she was very sick. And we found out that she will not be coming back to the house.”
While it appears Ortega won’t be returning to Season 29, she and The Bachelor team have yet to properly address her medical issues. It will be interesting to see if the contestant gets another chance in future seasons or spin-offs of the franchise.
