Kendrick Lamar‘s 2025 Super Bowl LIX halftime show was branded the “worst ever” by some viewers, as negative reactions to the rapper’s performance have been circulating on social media.
Lamar’s performance has been the main talking point following the Philadelphia Eagles’ demolition of the Kansas City Chiefs, with the rapper’s rendition of Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us’ causing a significant stir. During the show, Lamar got the crowd at the Caesars Superdome to scream “A MINOR!” in unison, after he’d already addressed Drake and said that his fellow artist “liked them young.”
But even though plenty of praise is being heaped on Lamar and his brutal takedown of his long-term rival, many also branded the performance one of the worst in the Super Bowl’s history.
Reactions to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 2025 halftime show
Many top-rated posts on X (f.k.a. Twitter) criticized Lamar’s performance, pointing to an apparent lack of reaction from the crowd as evidence that it had underdelivered:
However, more viewers complained of audio issues during the broadcast, saying that they couldn’t hear the performance.
In a top-rated Reddit post asking for opinions on the performance, one user wrote: “Sound engineering was ass, had to really blast the speakers to hear any words clearly. Otherwise solid performance. Camera work choreography was pretty creative as expected. And of course SZA f***ing devoured it.”
Another user added: “The audio was wild. I felt like I needed a transcript to fully enjoy it, but the teases for Not Like Us and the actual performance of it were great. “A minorrrrr” and Serena dancing were A++”
Kendrick Lamar wasn’t the only talked-about celebrity after the Super Bowl LIX. The rapper’s performance quickly had people searching for details on Serena Williams and Drake’s relationship, and Taylor Swift’s appearance in support of boyfriend Travis Kelce also made headlines.
