What Happened to DJ Khaled & Drake? Album Announcement Controversy Explained

DJ Khaled and Drake have been frequent collaborators in the music industry, delivering several chart-topping hits over the years. Their partnership has often generated excitement among fans, making any news about their projects highly anticipated.

Recently, a development involving the two artists has sparked discussions and speculation online. A social media post, followed by an unexpected response, led to confusion and raised questions about their latest collaboration. Here’s a closer look at what happened.

Why did DJ Khaled delete his album announcement?

Recently, DJ Khaled deleted his announcement about two Drake features in Aalam of God after Drake’s response hinted at a misunderstanding.

In the now-deleted Instagram post, Khaled excitedly wrote, “This the one with [2] DRAKES!” However, Drake commented, “Must be @drakebell,” suggesting he was either unaware of or not fully committed to the project. Khaled removed the post soon after. (via Billboard)

DJ Khaled’s plan to feature “two Drake songs” was seemingly teased in September 2023. He joined Drake on stage during the It’s All a Blur Tour and held up a sign, announcing that his 2024 album would have two tracks from the Toronto rapper. Fans accepted this claim as credible due to their history of collaborations on hits like “Popstar,” “Greece,” and “I’m On One.” This made Khaled’s recent announcement feel like an extension of that earlier tease.

However, Drake’s dismissive comment on the post raised questions about the status of the collaboration. His reference to former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell suggested either a humorous misinterpretation or a deliberate distancing from Khaled’s claims. This response, paired with the fact that Khaled quickly deleted the post, hinted at a possible miscommunication regarding Drake’s involvement in the album.

Despite deleting the post, Khaled continues his Aalam of God rollout. He recently shared a clip with JAY-Z and Timbaland.

Meanwhile, Drake is busy with his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia and New Zealand. With a packed schedule and a possible collaborative album with PartyNextDoor on the way, his priorities may not align with Khaled’s expectations.

Though Khaled deleted his announcement, fans are now questioning if Drake is actually involved in Aalam of God. The confusion has sparked speculation on whether the collaboration was real or just Khaled’s wishful thinking.
