Rangers’ Adam Edstrom Out for Over Six Weeks After Lower-Body Injury

Adam Edstrom, the ice hockey forward currently affiliated with the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, will be out of action for several weeks due to a lower-body injury. Notably, the Rangers drafted the Swedish athlete back in 2019, and he has been part of their roster since then.

How did Adam Edstrom get injured?

Adam Edstrom sustained a lower-body injury during the Rangers’ match against the Boston Bruins on Saturday, February 2. He exited the game, which the Rangers eventually lost, and didn’t return. Edstrom was also absent from his team’s victorious encounter with the Golden Knights on Sunday, February 3.

Before his injury, Edstrom scored five goals, four assists, and nine points in 51 games, with an average ice time of 9:16 minutes this season.

When will Adam Edstrom return to play for Rangers?

Adam Edstrom could probably return to play for the Rangers in 6 to 10 weeks at the earliest. Some outlets are reporting that he could be out of action for 10 to 14 weeks. Edstrom could be out for the entire season, depending on how the Rangers perform.

In the game against the Knights, veteran left winger Jimmy Vesey replaced Edstorm in the team, joining Sam Carrick and Matt Rempe on the fourth line. Head coach Peter Laviolette stated on Tuesday that the team would miss Edstrom, but his absence was an opportunity for others, including Vesey, to step up and fill the void. “He’s [Edstrom) had a really good year for us, for his first year being a regular here and being consistently in games,” he said. “It’s his size, it’s his physicality, it’s his speed. You take that out, you’re gonna miss it. But it’s a great opportunity for anybody else who steps into the lineup. Last game it was Jimmy, that’s a good opportunity for him to jump back in.” (via New York Post)
